MATLAB

Technical University of Liberec has a Campus–Wide License for MATLAB, Simulink, and add-on products. Faculty, researchers, and students may use these products for teaching, research, and learning. The license is uncounted and it allows individuals to install the products on university-owned equipment, as well as personally owned computers.

About MATLAB and Simulink

MATLAB, the language of technical computing, is a programming environment for algorithm development, data analysis, visualization, and numeric computation. Simulink is a graphical environment for simulation and Model–Based Design of multidomain dynamic and embedded systems. MathWorks produces nearly 100 additional products for specialized tasks such as dataanalysis and image processing.

Get Access Through MATLAB Portal

The following installation procedure applies to staff and student individual licenses. University PC labs can be equipped with concurrent network licenses. Ask your administrator for details.

You need to perform only the first four steps below in order to access MATLAB Online.

Individual license – installation for students and staff:

Download installer

See Step–by–Step installation instructions for details.

  1. Go to MATLAB Portal created by MathWorks for TUL.
  2. Select Sign in to get started in section Get MATLAB and Simulink.
  3. Log in to your university account.
  4. Create a MathWorks account. If you already have such an account, simply Log in. MathWorks account must be linked to an email address in the university domain (@tul.cz). The email linked to the MathWorks account can be changed here.
  5. Your MathWorks account is automatically linked with the license and you will be redirected to the page for installer download.
  6. Click at Download button with the current release. (Users can download any previous release, as well.)
  7. Select a proper operating system and download the installer.

Installation and Activation

See Step–by–Step installation instructions for details.

  1. Run the installer.
  2. In the installer, select Log in with a MathWorks Account and follow the online instructions
  3. When prompted to do so, select the Academic – Total Headcount license labeled Individual.
  4. After downloading and installing your products, keep the Activate MATLAB checkbox selected and click Next.
  5. Provide a user name or verify that the displayed user name is correct. Continue with the process until activation is complete.

Re–Activation of a Campus or Individual License

See https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/142392-how-can-i-update-or-reactivate-my-campus-wide-license

  1. Open MATLAB (If the license has already expired the activation client will launch and you can skip the next step)
  2. In Windows, Navigate to Help Menu (Click down arrow button) and select Licensing. In Linux and Mac, Click on Resources, Navigate to Help Menu (Click down arrow button) and select Licensing.
  3. Click on Activate Software
  4. Choose to Activate using Internet
  5. Once reactivated you will need to restart MATLAB before the new license file is recognized

If the installation has already expired, you will be prompted to activate when attempting to launch MATLAB. As long as the activation finishes successfully it will roll over to the new license file once the old one expires. You might continue to see the expiration warning in MATLAB until the old file expires.
