Artificial intelligence tools

Our university's Google Workspace Education Plus license offers access to several Google artificial intelligence tools. In order to use them, you must access them from the browser in which you are logged into Google services with your university identity, i.e. as a user name.surname@tul.cz.

Gemini

Gemini is a generative AI chatbot, similar to the popular ChatGPT. It is available at

https://gemini.google.com/

or you can install the Gogle Gemini mobile app. It is available for both Android and iOS. Gemini's capabilities match this category of tools - you can ask it questions, ask it to explain a problem, look for different solutions. It also offers so-called bots specialized in a certain field of study (e.g. programming or text correction). It can also generate images based on text descriptions.

The number of queries is limited, currently (March 2025) to 1000 queries per month for each user.

NotebookLM

This is a Gemini-based tool, but it works with a closed set of documents. You can find it at

https://notebooklm.google.com/

In this tool, you can create a notebook, upload documents (PDFs, web pages, etc.) and then ask questions, which NotebookLM answers based on the analysis of the provided documents. It does not use other sources, which reduces the chances of false answers. Google labels NotebookLM as a ‘virtual research assistant’, but its uses are broader.
